A political journey unfolded as I stepped into the role of lead video editor and animator for Tom Steyer's 2020 Democratic Caucus campaign. A tale of dedication and storytelling was etched as we traversed cities, capturing the essence of a democratic journey. My journey began as I joined the campaign team on the road, city after city, capturing Tom Steyer's activities, speeches, and meetings. The challenge? To transform these daily captures into dynamic and compelling recap videos that resonated with audiences. The clock ticked relentlessly as every night at 10 pm, a trove of footage landed at my hotel room. My nights transformed into editing marathons, weaving narratives that would soon traverse distribution channels, amplifying Steyer's voice. As the lead video editor, my canvas wasn't just footage—it was a narrative tapestry. I took on the roles of storyteller, colorist, sound designer, and animator. My expertise extended beyond cutting footage; it encompassed sculpting soundscapes, infusing life into graphics, and occasionally weaving visual effects.
